Specialization in Community Yoga for Families, Partners, Mothers, Children & Infants
July 28 – August 20, 2011, Ebbio yoga retreat, Tuscany, Italy
Why become a yoga specialist?
In a competitive world, where there are hundreds and sometimes thousands of yoga teachers in every city, we want to offer you the best start. With so much competition we believe that to be a successful yoga teacher you need to have passion, knowledge, and a specialization.
The focus of the Rainbow Family Yoga teacher training is family and society. We believe that the peace and joy of yoga can penetrate deeper into our world by sharing it with families. After successful completion of the teacher training requirements, you will be certified to teach all of the following:
- Fertility Yoga
- Prenatal Yoga
- Postnatal Yoga
- Baby Yoga
- Yoga for Kids
- Yoga for Teens
- Family Yoga
- Partner Yoga
- And Community Yoga (you can read more about community yoga below)
We will also attempt to open your mind and your heart, and to empower you to become part of the constant evolution of yoga. We are the present of yoga, but you are the future!
Parallel to the Rainbow Family Yoga Teacher Training there will be a Family Yoga Holiday (please invite your family and friends to join us!). Parents, kids and babies will be able to enjoy a yoga vacation and classes with senior teachers, while trainees will have the opportunity to observe and assist them, experiencing the real spirit of Community Yoga. In this way, the teacher training will be practical and experiential and not merely theoretical.
This 200 Hr residential teacher training will be held at Ebbio, a 14th-century Tuscan farmhouse and yoga retreat. Ebbio is also a working organic farm and vineyard, as well as a sanctuary for many animals, including beautiful horses. Ebbio has been described by past retreat-ers as “stunning” and “a truly magical place.” More information about this location and accommodations below!

About Gopala Amir Yaffe
Gopala has been teaching Yoga for children and adults, as well as meditation and yoga philosophy, since 1995.
He was a monk in the Sivananda Yoga Centers in Israel and the Bahamas for ten years, from 1994-2004, where he completed his Yoga Teacher Training and Advanced Teacher Training, and also helped train Sivananda teachers. While living in the Bahamas, Gopala was the general manager of the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat on Paradise Island, for four years.
From 2004 to 2007, Gopala created, managed and taught yoga and alternative spa programs in Los Cabos, Mexico and New York City. He also continued studying yoga for kids at Karma Kids in New York and Itsy Bitsy Yoga in Massachusetts, and Circus Yoga with Erin and Kevin O’Keefe. Gopala studied circus arts and acrobatics in San Francisco and Santa Cruz and has explored it’s marriage with yoga with Jenny and Jason from Acroyoga.
Gopala also studied healing with tibetan bowls with Avraham Benor and is a Reiki master. In 2008, after studying with Rabbi Joseph Gelberman, Gopala was ordained as an Interfaith minister. In 2009, Gopala was certified in Thai Yoga Massage by the Ritam School of Healing Arts and Saul David Raye.
In 2007, Gopala and Katya founded the studio Yoga LeShalom (Hebrew for “Yoga for Peace”) in Tel Aviv, Gopala’s hometown. Yoga LeShalom is a studio for the whole family, where the daily schedule included drop-in yoga classes for adults, yoga for kids, Ma and Baby, Family Yoga and Partner Yoga. That same year, Gopala began focusing on training yoga teachers for kids, and Rainbow Kids Yoga was born!
Seeing the need for bringing all this fun to adults as well, Gopala founded Sun Moon Partner Yoga in 2009 to train Partner Yoga teachers and to enrich the yoga world with what he calls Community Yoga.
Gopala has taught yoga in such diverse settings as Ashrams, yoga studios, private and public companies, hotels and spas, schools and preschools, summer camps, orphanages, juvenile detention centers, birthday parties, private classes and retreats. His playful, patient and warm teaching style has created trainings and retreats that have been described by graduates as “magical”, “inspiring”, “very practical,” “transformative”, and “an unforgettable journey.”
For the last two years Gopala has been traveling continuously all around the world to train yoga teachers and to spread the love!
Community Yoga
By Gopala Amir Yaffe
Anyone who has take more then just a few yoga classes knows that yoga is more than just physical exercise, it’s a way of seeing and experiencing. Yoga is a physical as well as mental exercise that makes you realize from within that you and the world are interconnected.
We come to this world through our families. We are nourished by them as we grow and learn. We then proceed to create our own families and support the social circles that sustained our development before. We receive and we give; we interact and we grow together. It’s all yoga.
In a way, there are two kinds of yoga: Yoga Mat Yoga, which is your practice in class, and Living Yoga, which is the attitude, peace of mind, the balance and the excitement about life that accompany you through your day when the yoga class ends.
In this course, we’ll learn a new kind of yoga that combines the two yogas into one. It’s a more social yoga, it’s a Living Yoga class, a yoga that we do together and that will give us tools to enrich and enliven every aspect of our family life.
In a world where communities are less and less a part of our society, and where people and new families find themselves isolated, it is more important than ever to focus on finding new ways of bringing people together.
We are all unique as individuals, but we cannot claim to be able to survive and thrive completely independently. A close look on our lives will reveal how interdependent we are and how a strong and healthy society can contribute to the growth of every individual.
Of course, society is made of individuals, and the healthier one individual is the healthier the whole society is. If someone is unhappy, it affects everyone. And if one of us is excited and joyful, it uplifts all of us. We affect each other constantly.
If we take yoga as a representation of our society, we will see that in the last fifty or sixty years, the majority of yoga was based on the individual. Practitioners have been wholly focused on themselves, whether physically, mentally or spiritually, practicing on their own yoga mats.
The new paradigm of yoga that we believe in is Community Yoga. Doing yoga together, whether it is with your baby, your child, your friend or your partner, has incredible benefits:
· It deepens our connection to others
· It builds trust and compassion
· It enables us to stretch further than usual
· And balance in ways we couldn’t by ourselves
· It teaches us to move with more awareness, realizing that our movements affect our partner
· It provides constant feedback to our actions by communicating with our partner as well as by experiencing how it feels when they stretch us
· It enhances communication skills using words, facial expressions, touch, breath and even thoughts
· It helps us to explore safe and loving touch
· It’s so much more FUN !!!
